Following the discussion with you and Mr Reichsleiter Bormann, I have the right to state in writing my position on the question of improving autonomous salaries: the salary of the Czech protectorate staff - apart from some insufficient and years ago - is the same as in the former Czech-Glovak Republic, whose salaries were known to be among the lowest in Europe and were only tolerable with regard to the relatively high domestic purchasing power. Since the living conditions in the Protectorate are now completely aligned with those of the rest of the Reich, the low level of the autonomous salary has led to a social disparity of broad strata of the Czech civil service and a political dissension that cannot be overlooked.
