From 19l5 - 19l8 he participated as a volunteer in the Inf.Reg.92 in the fights in Russia and Ita- lien. He refused the invitation to re-allocate his rank as reserve officer in the former army in l92l. Fuhrich attended the universities in Vienna, Prague and Gießen as well as the Dresden Technical University. In l922 he received his doctorate in philosophy in Gießen. At the Deutsche Technik in Prague he later devoted himself to actuarial mathematics and mathematical statistics. In the year 1 928 he habilitated at the Deutsche Technologie in Prague as a private lecturer and received a permanent teaching assignment. In the same year Fuhrich joined the service of the Central Social Insurance Institute in Prague and remained here until the beginning of his professorship in technology in l937.
