16a Colbnat Oliftar = Prni6 PRAG 1943 THE PERIODARY BOARDS The publication of the result for 1942 was also a call for the Adalbert Stifter Prize 1943. The war, whose harshness and inexorability has only come to light and which has raised the question of the preservation of German values visibly, directs the view beyond the narrow borders of the country. Thematically, therefore, the submissions should not be bound to Bohemia and Moravia again. But the attachment to this space, which in the course of its development was at the same time border and core space of the political and spiritual empire of the Germans, may to an increasing extent be sought in attitude and design, just as the name Adalbert Stifter points the way to it. We need in war at least as much as in peace spiritual vitality and creative will. Even the hard life of the soldier does not let it go out of his mental and spiritual ties to the multi-figured image of the nation. Thus, the numerous submissions from all fronts of the great war, which could count the previous year's competition, explain themselves. Therefore, this is a special call again to the writers of profession or inclination, who are in the field today. A bearing bridge between the area of Bohemia and Moravia and the battle fronts for the empire at the borders of Europe is thus also to be the Adalbert-Stifter-Preis. In 1943 four narrator prizes and four poetry prizes are awarded, which are considerably increased compared to the previous years: Narrator Prize: I. Prize . . zooo Mark Poem Prize: 1. All entries must be sent to the Volk und Reich Verlag, Prague XII, Schwerinstraße 3, by 1 November 1943. The above conditions apply mutatis mutandis also to the poem price. The verdict of the prize court takes place until the end of December 1943 and will be published in January 1944 in the magazine "Böhmen und Mähren" (Bohemian and Moravian). It is incontestable.
