STATE SECRETARY FOR THE RUSSIAN PROTECTOR IN THINGS AND IN MORAVA, PRAGUE, inv. 2337, sig. 109-11/139
English Translation
13 milie (woman and two children) came, having realized that the individual fate should not play a role today, to endure with humility, but that I should now be declared an enemy of the state, this can only be a fatal error in my opinion - and I am sure, even in the opinion of a large part of the population of Karlovy Vary. Even if, according to the wording of the law, which was found guilty of any interruption of pregnancy on the basis of insufficient medical justification, in which the operative intervention was honored, as "economic and criminal fruit abortion", I am also now guilty of the firm production that, in my extensive operational and obstetric activities, I did not do the relatively small number of cases for reasons of employment, but only because of today's admittedly certainly false attitude, which at that time allowed me to judge differently the one or other case out of pity or social feeling. If the addiction to enrichment had co-examined, I would never have rejected the hundreds of cases that had approached me, but, as was known from other doctors, I had done several cases every day. The fact that I cannot speak of an act hostile to the state or of an anti-state attitude seems to me to be a letter addressed to the Reichsmedärzteführer g, which I handed over to my lawyer for further use already in the summer of last year, at a time when there was no mention of the decision of the SS Hauptamt and I could expect to continue to practise my medical practice in Karlovy Vary, according to both the wording of the judgment and the oral commitment of the competent government office. In this letter, I asked that, after the sentence had been served, I be used somewhere in the newly won areas so that I could prove that I fully fulfil my duty in the service of the Volsgemeinschaft. That is why I am making this point in order to demonstrate in my bleak situation not only the good will but also the fact that I would never have been able to act in an anti-state manner. I am convinced that many SS-members who know me from the past and from my membership of the SS will confirm that I was not only known as a doctor and expert in the whole Karlsbad district, but also enjoyed a flawless reputation in every respect. I am thinking of J.U.Dr.Behr, the Aerzte Dr. Sommer and Dr. Schubert in Karlspar, the Reichstag deputy Dr. Klieber, the Landrat Dr. Plomer, Luditz, Dr. Wolf in Eger and others. I ask your Excellency, on the basis of my executions, to examine my matter with the strictest objec-tivity and to make a fair decision. Dr. Karl H ü b s c h e r ,Karlsbad, z.Zt. Landger,-Gef.-Eger. Eger, January 31, 1942.
