English Translation

49-9 you have probably observed in the course of the last year. That we can behave as friends, you would then be able to observe if a positive and active loyalty between the two nationalities, between the German and the Czech people would develop. I believe that we can and would agree on this basis. I am convinced that if you lay this foundation of loyalty, you will of course do us a favour, but on the other hand you will do your Czech people a great historical service. One must not judge by what people say today. The average person cannot see far. However, it is the task of the intelligence to rise above the narrow circle of the face and to look around in a wider circle, to imagine in the imagination a state that will once be and against which does not bear witness to the fact that it is not yet there. It is always up to the intelligence of a people to be pioneers of a coming state and not blind worshipers of a present state.
