49-3a, which are basically only family disputes, compared to the big questions that today the continents have to solve. I am now firmly convinced of this: just as we look back today with a certain smile on the church tower-horizontal clashes of the German tribes from the forties and fifties of the last century, who, in fifty years' time, will be less aware of the disintegration with a degree of amusement that is taking place in Europe at the moment= politically. They will only see family disputes in the »dramatic conflicts of nations« of some small European states. I am convinced that in fifty years we will no longer think only in countries - many of our present problems will then be completely faded, and there will not be much left of them; we will then think in continents, and completely different, perhaps much bigger, problems will also fill and move European thinking. They must not believe that, if we are to complete a rational process of order in Europe, we must do so in order to prevent individual peoples from living.
