Copies. Group Economy Prague, 22 January 1946.4 I1/1-1500/42 Original in t 2 Annexes Dr. G i e s im H a u s e, after taking note, returned with the following statement: The decree of the O.K.W. concerning the dismissal of miners mentioned by Dipl.Ing. Schmelzer in his letters from l3. and l6.d.M. to their former place of work is referred to in W. also on workers who previously worked in the mineral oil or fuel industry, since the demand for labour is as great as in mining and this industry is of the same priority as mining. Dipl.Ing. Schmelzer is Bergdipl.Ing, after his exam m.W. but only two years worked on a small ore mine in the mining industry and then moved as a technical manager to the fuel industry, where he worked for several years. He also expressly refers to this again in his letter addressed to the State Secretary of l6.1.l942. In all his entries, Dipl.Ing. This kind of use is practically not possible in the Protectorate, since large synthesis fuel plants do not exist in the protectorate and in mining all relevant posts are occupied with reliable Germans. In the Old Reich, however, numerous fuel factories are under construction, e.g. in construction. As I know, there is a great need for gentlemen with practical experience in such plants. I therefore propose to draw the attention of Mr Schmelzer to the mineral oil department of the Reichswirtschaftsministerium, i.e. of Mr. Director Fischer, Berlin W 8, Behrenstr. 43, and to Mr. Schmelzer's address and to him from the RwM. Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I should like to thank the rapporteur for his excellent report, and I should also like to congratulate him on his excellent work on the work he has done in this field. Allgemeine however, it should be borne in mind that Mr. Schmelzer is not michtig of the Czech language and that the existing 4 mineral oil refineries, as the representative of the Reichsprotector for the mineral oil industry confirmed to me on request, already have German allies for the arms inspection, defence and the commission of the Imperial protector for the petroleum industry.
