THE SECRETARY TO THE RUSSIAN PROTECTOR IN THINGS AND IN MORAVA, PRAGUE, inv. 1779, sig. 109-5/7
English Translation
26 - 5 - Nevertheless, the grubbing-up of the not yet fully matured medium-early and late potatoes has already begun, the justified demand of the population for potatoes cannot be met approximately. An aid of the empire has been rejected as impossible. Difficult is added that now also the meat supply leaves too much to be desired. In spite of the reluctance to intervene in livestock, it will no longer be possible to ensure full acceptance of the meat cards in the near future. The impact of these growing supply difficulties on the development of the political situation in the Protectorate is extremely serious. The arms inspection in Prague and the German entrepreneurs of the local area, as well as the party departments, are increasingly emphatically pointing to the untenability of the food relations in the protectorate. However, the remedy cannot be created without grant payments from Reichsbehalten. The negotiations on this in a meeting of the Secretary of State with the Reich Food Ministry have not produced a satisfactory result.
