The School of Art and Craft in Prague was founded in 1885 as a Utraquistische school. From the beginning the Czech influence prevailed, already in the first year of the year 19885/86 the premises led the following departments: 1. General schools: a) Department of ornamental and figurative drawing, 22 pupils, 2 of them Germans, b) Department for figurative and ornamental modelling, 13 pupils, of which l German. 2nd School of Drawing and Painting for Women, 23 pupils, 16 of them German, 3rd School of Art Embroidery, l3 pupils, throughout Ischechen, 4. Fachschule für Goldschmiedekunst und verwandte Gewerbe 32 students, of which 6 were German, 5. Kunstgewerbliche Abendkurse und Sonntagskurse, 24 were pupils, of whom 5 were pupils. In 1932/33 there were 29 German 6th pupils at the school, in 1937/38 28 German pupils. After the return of the Sudeten-German territory, the school became purely Czech. Only in the year 194o were again 2 German pupils admitted. In the school year 197l/42 the school had 27l pupils, of which 8 were girls and 2 were boys. At present there are 16 German pupils among 320 pupils. Even under the professorship the German influence remained relatively weak. At the institution so far 11 German teachers worked. At present, two Germans are working on her: Oskar Kr e i b i c h for painting and Franz Rro t e r for sculpture.
