- 31 - the limitation of new curricula to only a short time brought with it a certain uncertainty. Although a new curriculum in most cases forces the publication of new textbooks and makes the old many-fold incompetent. Also, there is a certain incentive to penetrate the now competition-free area of sales with new textbook edition. On the other hand, however, it must be borne in mind that new teaching books cannot be stomped out of the ground and that the risk of limiting curricula to perhaps two years can easily exceed the financial forces of a private publishing house. In most decrees, however, it is required that new editions will only be published after five years, even if new curricula have come out in the meantime. Reworked new editions before the end of this period are only justified for substantial factual or methodological reasons and these must also be cited by the publisher when submitting their approval. If the changes are not very comprehensive, it should be taken into account that the old conditions can be used in addition to the new ones and the necessary text corrections can also be made by the pupils themselves in the old requirements. The pricing of a textbook is not always as unfavourable as in this case.
