On 15 March 1939, Bohemia and Moravia became part of the territory of the Great German Empire and entered as a Protectorate under its protection. This historic fact had a major impact on railway matters in the Protector's Office. In the newly built company Protectorate Railways of Bohemia and Moravia, railways were allowed to break free from the distressing bonds of a small territorial unit and to participate in the generous transport tasks of the large German area. By releasing the existing transport borders, the importance of the Protectorate Railways of Bohemia and Moravia was fully applied, which belonged to them as a transport network in the heart of Europe and an ancient crossroads between North and South and East and West. March 1939 was laid the basis for cooperation of the German Reich Railway with the protectorate administration of the railway under the immediate influence of Ríš. This started a great work of normative modifications and planning, which follows that the Protectorate Railways should be technically and correctly adapted to the DR in order to guarantee a unified transport service, ready for deployment every time, and ready for immediate readiness in the overall German space. The reflection of the work on this work was already reflected in all components of the railway service in 1939. In 1939, it was more favourable than expected. In the transport of persons and baggage, the amount of EUR 540,678 million in the transport (fast and freight goods) amounted to EUR 1.509,935 million; other revenues, mainly consisting of compensation for the hire of vehicles, rents and various mining, amounted to K 132,570 million. The amount of the transport tax granted to the company in favour of the operating result was 217,499 million K. The total revenue of the operational account amounted to 2,400,682 million K . The favourable development of transport revenue was due to the rapid recovery of right-hand traffic and rising employment. In freight transport, the number of consignments, in particular building materials for the private activity of construction works, as well as for the construction and repair of road connections has increased. The total cost of the operating account, which includes, in addition to the expenditure on the management of the Protectorate Railways, also expenditure on maintaining railway equipment and vehicles, the need for depreciation and the flat-rate need for operating deficits, the interest and administrative costs of local railways operated by the Protectorsate-her railways, amounted to 2.766.481 million K. Its result exceeded budget appropriations at the same time. The reasons for the increase in costs were, on the one hand, an increase in the pro-car performance of the company, and also in various salary adjustments and reimbursements, by helping active employees and retired workers during the administrative year. Personal costs amounted to 1.802,799 million K, material costs 963,681 million K. The operating loss was therefore 365,798 million K and was 220,338 million. To the lower than expected by the budget for 1939. The cost of interest and redemption of investment debts amounted to 131.989 million K. The interest and exchange-rate losses amounted to a total of 2.832 mil K. In the loss and profit account, the balance sheet loss for 1939 was 494.955 million K.19 2.
