dtslE.e In urban health, the infectious diseases - especially scarlet and diphtheria - which have grown in the last two months deserve special attention. The lo4o ßad urban infection beds and someother smaller stocks in other hospitals are not enough in any way. Therefore - it was necessary, contrary to the previous directives, to accommodate only the most important cases of scarlet diseases in hospitals and to accommodate at most 3 to 4 weeks. With reference to the fact that between 1 and 30% of the urban infection beds are occupied with patients from the Bohemian rural districts, and that the country of Bohemia does not have its own infection department in its large general hospital, we approached the state authority with the request that it should have a separate infection department with 25o beds in order to relieve the urban hospital. This measure must also be pursued so that the city can once concentrate on the sexually ill in the auxiliary hospital on Karlshof, which is now covered by infectious diseases. It is only through such concentration of the sexually ill persons who are now subjected in various places that the decree of the Ministry of the Interior of 9/7.1942, which offers all hands to the health police to combat the disease, can be effectively complied with.- In order to combat infectious diseases, the vaccination of the school beginners was carried out on the basis of voluntary action.- To take a decisive step further in the long-runned tuberculosis control, in cooperation with all the relevant economic circles and the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labour, the employment of the open-tuberculosis after action was eliminated. At the same time, the third pavilion of the Landes-Irrenanstalt in Bochnitz was put into operation as a tuberculosis hospital, so that Prague currently has 67I beds for the provision of open-tubercular beds. Fortunately, the preparatory legislative work for the creation of a municipal health office has progressed to a large extent. It is currently planned that the tasks of the German official physician will be transferred to this health office in Reichsauftragsverwaltung and that the head of this health department will be installed in the city administration as co-ordinator.
