6a. JUEROUSE During his responsible interrogation Ott described the incident as follows: "I wanted to drive from Horn station Jungfern-heide to Gartenfeld with the Kptln. We assumed that a train would still go because the sign Garten-feld was hanging out and beleuchtet. After we had waited already 1/4 hour, we announced that no train would go to Gartenfeld any more. From Horn wanted to inquire in the station chief house how he would still come to Gartenfeld. When he opened the door, Schmidt just came out. He did not give a reply, but rather stung him back. v.H. said now to the railwayman Schmidt, "he should not push him, he makes him notice that he (v.H) was in uniform". "Schmidt stabbed him back again. Kptln. vH. I went after him, Now the Reichsbahn employee tried to make a phone call as well as by the Horn. While v. H. was on the phone, the railwayman Schmidt suddenly came to him and put a blow on his eye, so that it went down blue. v.H. sat down again to defend himself, pushing Schmidt into a corner. There Schmidt sank to his knees. Now asked me to bring up the robbery comman- do. I was about to leave when Schmidt said to me, "Make sure you get out of here, you have nothing to do with it!"When I leave, I then say, "You will probably get rid of me as a witness, so I can only say that you are a lump!" I have this statement to the railwayman Schmidt in my indignation about the treatment of Kptln. v. Horn, as I assumed that he wanted me to be my witness. I had to gain this impression. As an insult in the general sense, my words should not be considered, but were merely an expression of my indignation. I cannot admit that I have made myself punishable by my utterance in this context." 58572 - 2 -
