May those of you who act like this not act as martyrs who are willing to go to prison or even give up their lives; that is not what this is about. You shall not become martyrs, you shall become good and knowledgeable students. The organs of the Empire, as has often happened in similar cases, have been closely following and knowing the behaviour of such students for a long time already. The Reichsprotektor has informed me these days that the patience of the German authorities is now exhausted and that the punitive closing of all Czech means and the higher technical schools in Bohemia and Moravia is prepared. Let me explain to you the seriousness of this book; think about what the loss of all secondary schools and higher secondary schools would mean for our people today.
