3 Prague, 20 February 1940. Report. Betr.: Italian Consulate General in Prague According to the Italian Consul General, the chancellor of the Italian consulate general in Prague, M a t e u c c i , is said to have received the order to collect detailed information about the "Vlajka". Matteucci is first interested in the leading personalities and the real strength of this movement. After Mattewitz's announcements, the interest for the "Vlajka" was due to the fact that this organization had approached the Italian Konsulat by mediation of an Italian in order to obtain financial support. In this announcement, Matteucci laughed at the fact that the consul was likely to find this matter expensive, as was the case with the 20 litres of petrol which General G a j d a had been loaned by the Consulate without having to pay it back. In this context, it is worth mentioning that Matteucci stated that some time ago the Italian Consulate had conducted a larger correspondence because of a Czech professor named Adolf P l a c h ý. He is currently supposed to be a lecturer at the "Sapienza" in Rome and, on the Italian side - so far in vain - he had been asked to introduce a special arrangement for him at the Reichsprotektor. Furthermore, Matteucci announces that the Consul General has instructed the press attaché R i c c o b o n i to invite representatives of the German authorities and cultural institutions to all public events of the "Fasci locali". Matteucci also mentioned that a few weeks ago, on the German side, the Czech women of the Consulate's employees were dealt with in a somewhat indiscreet way.
