22 - 2 - As it emerged from the discussion, Riccoboni has been exposed to complaints from the Czech Government and the Czech press during his work as a press attaché to the Italian embassy after his description since the beginning of the German-Italian Axis policy. He also claims that there must still be files on this in the archives of the Czech Foreign Ministry, on sheets that have been particularly hostile to him as an Italian press attaché, he called above all the "Lidové Noviny" and the "Národni Listy". Riccoboni also announced during the conversation that he had recently been awarded by Mussolini with the "Schärpe Littorio" of a high award, which is awarded only after meritorious, at least ten years of party activity. R. is also, according to his own statements, the chairman of the association of Italian reserve officers in Protectorate. In contrast to Riccoboni's own information, the following is known from the "Masarykuv slovnik naučny", sub voce "Riccoboni": R. was assigned as reserve lieutenant to the Italian military administration of the Czech special camps in northern Italy after the second visit of Dr. Beneš to Rome, in August 1917. When he was later set up in Rome the "Italian Committee for Czechoslovak Independence", he was assigned to these institutions as a supervisory body, as was the case for the branch of the Czech National Council in Paris and the Czech Legation in via Buocompagni. Already at that time it is said that in Italian officers' circles it has often been disapprovingly stated that R. represents more Czech than Italian interests and exposes himself on all occasions to the Czechs.
