29 My attitude has often been misinterpreted by my fellow countrymen. I have always felt as a national-conscious techeche and as such even covered actions that would find with my personal political conviction with the Germans, and could not bring it over my heart to report these countrymen and their delusional plans to the German place. I know that by doing so I have violated the laws and the duties incumbent on me and I must also stand up as Prime Minister for the fact that things have happened during my administration that did not correspond to my true political convictions and that I did not understand enough to prevent them. But I would like to make this sacrifice for my people if it serves as a final warning for reflection and if it still allows the way to honest and sincere cooperation with the German people to be found. OUSO Prague, October 1, 1941, ed. Ing. Elias. N In today's press release, the entire Czech press will bring the trial and guilt of Elias from its own experience. It is intended to hand over the photograph of his handwritten declaration to the press tomorrow or the day after tomorrow as a document. I ask that the Führer not make use of his right of grace, otherwise the foreign press would consider the whole process to be set up. However, I ask for permission without anything in the public sphere.
