47 8 of the President of the Republic Dr. Hácha, that only by means of a proposal will the sovereignty of the empire be assured in the long term a prosperous development of the Czech people. This order of the czech people is the fate of space. It is by settlement within the German people's body, by a thousand years of history as well as by requirements of the s d autonomous protectorates, the solution of the problem of the political order of Bohemia and Moravia, which means the best geist of the 19th century. These facts could not be closed to even the British Prime Minister Chamberlain in vain in the context of the monarchy, by declaring on 17 March 1939 in Birmingham the following with regard to the establishment of the Protectorate: "It has been claimed that this settlement of the Czecho-Slovakia was the undiminished rim of the visit I made last autumn to Germany, and that, since the results of these events had existed in the tearing down of the results achieved in Munich, it was proved that the grievances under which these visits had taken place had been erroneous. This is a generally unacceptable conclusion. ........... I had no new problem to deal with (in Munich). There was something that had always existed since the peace of Versailles, a problem that should have been solved long ago, if only the statesmen of the last twenty years had had a more generous and enlightened view of their duty.
