85 The Chairman of the Government. Prague, May 6, 1939. To the Imperial Protector Se. Excellency Freiherr von Neurath. In conjunction with my preface on May 3, 1939, I allow myself to make the following statement to Your Excellency: The government of the Protectorate has made it a fundamental principle that it will always and in all things proceed with full openness and loyalty in relation to the representatives of the Empire. But precisely this principle of openness and loyalty, which is so necessary, especially since it is a completely new regulation of the Czech people's attitudes towards the German Reich, makes it a duty of the Protectorate Government to draw attention to some facts and to the importance that has recently occurred. The government is filled with serious fears that the Czech people, whose attitude towards the organs of the Reich, as well as that of the rich German military and civilian fac- tors has been recognized on several occasions, has been absolutely correct so far and that the court was able to refer to a superleague to be friendly, under the Druc conditions of his bitterness, which do not allow to be contradicted in lkerung. The government is grateful to the protectors, to the people and to the German-doubt government.
