English Translation
Copy Prague, 10 February 1943 Z e u g n i s Professor Dr. Gerhard Gesemann has been in my treatment for years. He suffers from a serious disease of the aortic valves with insufizienz of the same and narrowing of the entrance into the main artery. (Insufficientia valvutarum aortae et Stenosis ostii aertae) There is also, as confirmed by numerous X-ray findings, an extension of the initial part of the main artery and also an expansion of the heart. The severe heart disease exists for many years and is probably due to a stain fever disease. In addition, there is a chronic intestinal catarrh, which often leads to debilitating diarrhea, whereby the impossibility of a corresponding diet is an aggravating circumstance. With a body length of lm 85 cm, the body weight is dropped to 63 kg and accordingly the state of strength is reduced. If, despite the severe heart disease, Professor Gesemann has come, this was certainly only possible under the imposition of special willpower. However, there are now signs that indicate a fall in heart strength. There is a risk of life-threatening seizures of angina pectoris. I therefore strongly recommend Professor Gesemann to apply for a half-year's sick leave, which should enable the unconditionally necessary physical and mental rest and the implementation of a corresponding cure.
