35 Prague, 16 November 1939. l.) V e r m e r k . In the question of the name change of the Czecho-Slovak National Church today, after a Dr. P e š e k had appeared on 15.ll.1939 and had declared himself unresponsible, the Patriarch Dr. Gustav Procházka spoke. Procházka objected to the suggestion to change the name of the National Church, first of all to the objection that the so-called "Landeskirchentag" was permanent for this purpose. However, the Landeskirchentag would not meet for more than half a year. Furthermore, the measure needed to be approved by the Czech Ministry of Culture. Procházka suggested that the matter should not be settled by order from the Office of the Lord Reichsprotector or by order to the Protectorate Government. I rejected this and meant that Pro-chátska would then have to act on his own responsibility and change the name on its own initiative subject to the approval of the Landeskirchentag. Procházka found the way out, that he wanted to deal with the matter of the Central Church Committee, which is composed of members of the regional church day. Prochàzka proposed as a future name for the National Church: "Czech National Church". I raised no objections to this. Procházka wants to submit the resolution of the Central Church Committee to the office of the Secretary of State in the near future. Prochàzka also pointed out that he had given information about the National Church in Prague in the summer of the year 2/6. 2) With this note and 4 annexes he submitted to the State Secretary.
