Hourly earnings in total industry in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia were still 25% lower in April 194l than in total industrial output in the Reich (March 194O). More recent figures for the Reich region are not available here. It should be borne in mind, however, that the taxes and social deductions in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia are about 8 - 1 0% lower than in the Reich, so that net earnings are only about 15 - 20% below the level in the Empire. In particular, the level of alignment compared to the Reich is extremely low among the various industries and groups of workers. There are groups of workers in which hourly earnings are still more than 40% below the hourly wages in the Reich, while, for example, hourly salaries are less than 40% lower than the average hourly wage.
