N - 25 - Complementation of skilled workers. The Chamber has endeavoured with all its strength to ensure that not only no drop in the performance of the young people was tolerated by the signs of war, but on the contrary, intensive training has shown ways of further increase in performance. The training of the young businessmen takes place in two different ways, above all in the companies and on the other hand in the vocational schools. It is often complained from business circles that the vocational training is not economic= and is already close enough to the present. Despite the appreciable efforts of the Berußschulen, a certain degree of justification cannot be denied with regard to the results of the final examinations of the apprenticeship. For decades, the Chamber has maintained close ties with the vocational schools in its district and supports them within the limits of the resources available. The further expansion of the vocational school system seems absolutely necessary to the Chamber of the South Bohemian Region in order to bring the special craft skills of the southern Bohemian people to the greatest extent possible. Finally, it depends on school and company education whether it is possible to develop the industry, which is particularly favourable for southern Bohemia on a site-by-site basis, and the Chamber has therefore dealt with the question of the establishment of a technical school for precision mechanics and weak current technology according to the nature of the German technical centre. Although considerable obstacles to implementation exist in times of war, the idea of leading companies has been warmly welcomed and widely supported, a special moving city in the district has even agreed to make land available for the new educational institution. The project has already been completed in the floor plans and can be implemented as soon as the natural conditions are available. In the year under review, the Erems and Unter-Bukowsko vocational schools were dissolved by the Ministry of Education. The apprentices were assigned partly to the vocational school of Budweis and partly to vocational school in Prohenbruck. In Samechow, the Ministry approved the reopening of the vocational school for glassmakers. At the end of the year, a total of 28 vocational schools and 1 0 technical schools were in operation in the district, and the Chamber was able to grant a total amount of k 73,200,-- for maintenance contributions. In the year 1942, apprenticeships and apprenticeship homes were also supported.
