A b parti cation II Prague, July 1942 No II/Stat. - 1181/6780 Vert ra u l i c ! to Mr S Subject: Fruit reporting in July 1942 According to the reports of the official fruit rapporteurs of the Central Statistical Office, the prospects for this year's fruit harvest are satisfactory. In particular, the early fruit (cherries and whites) was very luxuriant, with plums, apples and pears fas normal. An undernormal level of growth was only recorded in the apricots and peaches. In a large number of districts, the blossoming was undisturbed, and the fertilization of fruit trees by insect flight was beneficial - fruit development was also favourable. In some cases, the fruit trees were damaged by hail strike, but damage had only a local significance. D precipitation was sufficient during this time in most of the Geg 88018. The occurrence of animal pests was generally more favourable than in normal years. Compared to the previous year, the growth rate of pears has developed remarkably better. In the case of the nst fruits such as plums, plums and apples, jehannisberries, gooseberries and raspberries, a normal harvest is to be varitated. Only the growth of the apricots and peaches is worse judged than in 1941. This favourable development of the fruit harvest is clearly apparent in the estimates made so far of the final cherry harvest and the preliminary soft-seed harvest. On the basis of these observations, this year's cherries harvest is almost 9% higher compared to the 1940/42 average and 19% higher compared with previous years.
