2 For retail prices covering goods and services, the purchasing power of the krona is weighted on average according to the German calculation scheme for the index of the cost of living for a comparison between Berlin and Prague O,lo RM. It is thus equivalent to the officially fixed currency ratio. For the groups "clothing" and "heating and lighting" the purchasing power of the krone was O,O9 RM, i.e. for these groups the price level of Prague is about 1O% higher than the price levels of Berlin. The purchasing power of the crown on the unbalanced average of Il Arbeitergruppen with 13 figures was estimated in June 194l at 0.12 RM, so the wage level in the Protectorate is still 20% below the wage levels of the cities of the Reich suitable for comparison. The following is a brief overview of the price trends of individual important goods from March 1939 to June 1941. Wholesale prices for cereals have risen by about 12 - 25%, which is close to 80% for food potatoes, which are of crucial importance for food. For meat, the increase in wholesale prices ranges from 33% for pigmeat to 2l0% (March 1939 = l00) for mutton meat. The increase in the price of Loi Kalb leisch is calculated at 85%, which is 39% for beef. The price for domestic pig fat has increased by 37/2%, for foreign meat by 66%, for butter by 48% and for eggs by 2l2%. The price of European wool has increased to 2.5 times, for winged flats III to 2.3 times, and for wing flats II to 2.2 times and for swing flats I to 3. 20 44%, for cotton yarn no. 36 36%; for cotton wool the price has fallen by 13%. It is noteworthy that the reduction in wholesale prices for fertilizers, in particular potash salt and kainite, is close to 50%.
