English Translation

His Excellency the Fuhrer Adolf HITLER, Führer-Hauptquartier. Your Excellencies! For the kind congratulations on no. 70th birthday, which Mr. Reichsminister Dr.Lammers gave me on your behalf, and for the extraordinary award you gave me by sending the Minister to Prague, I would like to take my most cordial thanks. I would also like to thank you very much for the words of the announcement, which I have received in your wish letter, which honours me very much. You have given me a very special pleasure with the gift of the magnificent Mercedes-Benz car. In this precious gift, which also has a not small practical significance for me, I rebuke a tangible pledge of your so precious goodwill and trust for me. All the more fortunately the gift makes me and all the more cordial is the thanks which I also allow to express here. I still want to use all my powers in the service of the kingdom and of my people, I am convinced that my people will continue to follow the way I have instructed them, and also hope that, after the hours of severe trial that I had to endure, Providence will allow me to see the fruits of this effort. I am pleased to see that the first prerequisite for this, the victory of the German weapons, has already come to an end thanks to the brilliant achievements of the Wehrmacht and, above all, thanks to your brilliant leadership. May it be fulfilled without delay and thus bring to a happy conclusion the more visible struggle that you have taken on for your people's sake. I allow myself to assure Your Excellency also in this opportunity of my faithful devotion and constant willingness to serve. Prague, July 13, 1942. Dr. E. Hácha e.h.
