- 4 - Z e i s s had ordered a club furniture set for the Oberlandratsamt in Tabor from Ladislav Dvořak in Beneschau and offered Dvořek any other work in good condition. The finished set was found to be good by Z e I s s and brought to Tabor at the request of the Zeiss. Here the Tapezier was amazed that they were not delivered to the Oberlandrat building, but to the apartment of the Z e i s s. Z e s s gave the Tapekier the order to send him the bill and had no objections here. Only when he received the invoice after about 14 days did he detract from the furniture and request either an amendment of the set, since it allegedly did not appeal to the masses indicated by him or the reduction of the bill. In a letter to Dvořak he threatened with a lawsuit at the German District Court. The trustee Josef Š a m a l, who made the interpreter on this matter, repeatedly threatened the wallpaperer with imprisonment by the secret state police and under this pressure let him lower the bill, which originally amounted to 674.44 RM to 350.-RM - and add the note that with this amount the invoice is deemed to have been paid. Z e i s s denied at the time that Šamal had given the order to threaten the Tapezier. If it happened, then Šamil had done it on his own initiative. The opportunity had been investigated by the SS-Obergruppenführer and Secretary of State K.H.Frank at that time. SS-Obergruppenführer H e y d r i c h finally decreed that Šamal should be taken into protective custody for a period of six weeks and that Zeiss should be given a warning by the Oberlandrat in Tabor. Furthermore, the claims of the D v o R a k by Z e i s s were to be satisfied. This mild assessment was based on the idea that the matter should avoid putting uncertainty into the German civil service about its behaviour towards the Czechs. Taking these facts into account, it must therefore be assumed that Zeiss has not, on the basis of the advantages of Eder, created any remedy in the unbearable conditions with regard to the supply of fruit and vegetables innTabor. ./.
