Individual French and Belgian prisoners of war, who make themselves deserved by special achievements, are allowed to move freely, equipped with original certificates of the responsible camp, even without German guarding. Prisoners of war get all absolutely necessary things. In the case of certain jobs, the work clothing, such as mine work, chemical or other special occupations, is not to be provided by the Wehrmacht, but by the company leader. Money and other valuables must not be given to prisoners of war, nor alcohol, as far as this is not part of the normal diet. Working time depends on the war-related conduct of the enterprise. The prisoners of war are entitled to the rest time necessary to maintain their performance and to a certain amount of leisure time for the maintenance of clothing and accommodation. POWs are valuable working classes. This fact obliges all those who employ and employ prisoners of wars. Those who employ prisoners of war must be aware of their responsibility for maintaining labour force in the interests of overall warfare. Courageous or negligent neglect of prisoners of wars in labor weakens the fighting power of the front and home. - Maintaining the labour force of the prisoners of war by all means is a predominance of the benefit of individual needs- of the commandment in the interest of the great whole. In dealing with all prisoners of War these guiding principles of each German must be strictly observed. They also apply to the war prisoners, to whom certain reliefs are granted. Every violation of the guidelines sabotages the conduct of war and is severely punished.
