F r a n k Prag-BurB Betr.: Nature and Wildlife Reserve Groß-Seelowitz Reference: Letter from the President of Moravia dated 18.ll.1942 For the declaration of the area of the forest office Groß-seelowitz to the nature and wildlife reserve, non forest interests of the Protectorate Forest Office d t t Reichsprotector were decisive. In order to arrange the representational hunt of the Lord Reichs protector in Seelowitz, the resettlement of certain Czech communities around Seeloitz was envisaged in the year l939, but then dropped again because of the difficulties involved. I should like to point out that this area around Seelowitz, which was formerly part of the area around Pohrlitz and the surrounding communities, which is now the territory of the Reichsmarschall, has been a closed hunting ground for many decades, partly owned by the former Archduke Friedrich, and partly leased by him, the largest and most bearable low-wild area in Europe at all. On average, about 25 - 3o ooo pieces of low-wild came to the track in these parts of the territory. The people's economic value is proved by this figure alone. The need for the preservation of this area, which is perfectly suitable for the low-wild, in its despicableness, was recognized by the Lord Reichamarschall and called upon to be the Te d edee. Reichsguardor von Neurath made his completely compliant decision regarding the part of the protectorate. Whereas in Pohrlitz, thanks to the intervention of the Reichsmarschall, there was a bald clarification in favour of hunting, the same basic conditions could only be created in the Protectorate after the declaration of the area Groß-Seelowitz to the nature and wildlife reserve. //
