From the l.I. to 3l.VIII.ds.J. we paid to the insured and family members by 4.5 million kroner more in cash benefits than in the same period of the year 1939. I have therefore commissioned central statistics to identify the causes of the increased expenditure by examining in detail the various items.I have taken some data from the reports of central statistics, which I will provide you with more detailed information and ask you, after studying these numerical results, to take the same position and, if necessary, to apply for appropriate arrangements which may lead to the normalisation of the balance. L. Disbursed sickness benefit: 1939 has more cases of illness and less days compensated, on the contrary, the year l940 has fewer cases of disease and more days compensated. In 1939, there were 18.04 days in the year k940 20.70 days in 1940 by 2.66 days more. For the calculation of how viile of the paid sickness allowance is equal to 1 day in the years l939 and 1940, we have found that also the average class of the compensated insured has increased as follows: In 1939 7 0 in 1940 8 D, which means an increase of the expenditure for the sickness allowance for each day by around K 2.--. These two underlying causes mean that we are paying around 3.5 million kroner more than in 1939: 1./ to the illness K 1,750,000.- 2./ to an increased average class of the sick 7 - 8 K 1, 670,000.- together K 3,420,000.-- These facts show that the future efforts of the relevant factors/services department, auditors and the management of the insurance institution must be directed towards achieving that the all-encompassing medical staff, specialists and revisionists work in a manner that does not extend the duration of a disease case further and that there were no epidemics in these years.
