27 - 11 - and that the German people and the Reich now has a long and indeed the most powerful and difficult struggle of its history to fight, we immediately went to a conscientious review of our political strategy and tactics in the Protectorate. A way had to be found and, according to this knowledge, a policy was to be made which would ensure that everything was drawn out of the rich human and economic forces of space and its inhabitants, without losing sight of the far-off goal and without obstructing the way to it through political momentary measures. This was/from then on/upper principle of the German leadership and it is clear and unambiguous to this day. It has proven itself. We have made some superficial judgements of the beginning of the war and also some arrogance. We became very sober when we realized that foreign folk politics is not an exact science. We have learned that with the position that one has ahead of itself, one must also be able to change the mode of use of the position without forgiving oneself in principle. I am aware that in doing so, the correctness or incorrectness of a political action before the final success is often difficult to justify or sometimes almost impossible to prove. We have often suppressed resentment and, for the duration of the war, have put the feeling politics and ideologies in the corner. We have become sober real and interest politicians, in order to get out for the Higher, the Reich everything that is possible somehow.
