- 118 - Office of the Beichsprotektor to Patriarch G.A. Procházka :* we have no interest in our statutes and your Synod, you are the fatriarch, meet your predictions, if not..."And since the matter took a long time, the Germans finally decreed by a decree of 9 April 1940 the change of the name, which was the last in the latx, that the people remembered the former Czechoslovakia. The Czechoslovak Church is now called the Bohemian Moravian Church, as we take it from the People's Germans on April 9th. The change of name proved to be insufficient protection against anti-Sersecütion, even the scientific work of the founder of the church, the Fatriarch K.2arský, was officially forbidden. An aggravating state of affairs is considered when one finds out that an "erson who had been arrested for some offense belongs to the "Bohemian Moravian Church" or to the church of the Bohemian brothers. The sufferings of the protégés in the Slowacle are described elsewhere in this book. In the Protectorate as well as in the 8lowskei, the Protestants carry all blows of fate with the same stability as the pious Latholics and those who profess the Jewish faith.
