51 The Head of the Abteilt (Rulturpolitik) W/Kt Prague, March 25, 1944 X/ Betr.: Interview Iwersen. After the radio recording of the interview given by Minister of State Frank for the short wave in North America, I came to me again to ask how he could now use the inter-view for Spain. He had allegedly not accurately ignored the instructions given by Minister of State Frank in this regard and expressed the opinion that he could only print the answer without using the term interview. On the basis of the previous consultation with the senior group leader, I have clearly explained to him the following: 1.) The Minister of State has given an interview to Spanish journalist Funcia and does not consider it necessary that about two interviews be distributed at the same time in the Spanish press. The value of the interviews would therefore be reduced. 2.) The Iwersen-granted interview was clearly intended for the short wave to North America and is adapted to this purpose in terms of content and for times. A simple takeover for Spain is therefore not possible. 3.) The Minister of State agrees that Iwersen will use the contents of the interview in articles for the Spanish press in a way suitable for Spain, without these statements being referred to as statements by Minister of state Frank. Iwerzen should at most mention in his articles that he was also given the opportunity to speak with Minister of the State Prank, among other things, in Prague.
