44 -Obergmiepeenfrihrer franh. RuS-Führer Böhmen-Mähren Prag, November 21, 1943 Feldpostbrief Nr.5 Believes nevertheless: iim the best of our people Jryang did not die so that the living were dead, 12/ 13. 43 but that the dead might come alive. Walter Flex Dear comrades ! The occasion of this fieldpostbriefe is a very painful one. First of all, we had only intended to bring to the attention of all our comrades a touching letter from our comrade Jesionek with the proclamation of his birthday on the front. On the 9th of November we had placed this letter at the center of a simple but serious commemoration hour. On November 30, 1943, we received the surprising news of the heroic death of our comrade Erwin Jesionek. On the transport to a field hospital of the Eastern Front, he was killed by a severe head injury caused by enemy action. This event is particularly close to us from the outside, because it has torn the first gap into our ranks and because our dear Jesi - as we called him - has grown to the heart of all who knew him. His unconditional will to fight and engage, his uncompromising strength and his unshakable faith in the leader, but also his cheerful companionship, filled with delicious humor, will remain unforgotten to all of us. We stand in faithfulness and w-comradion to his dear wife and his two children, whom he thought so heartily in the middle of the drum fire on his last birth day. i-Hauptsturmführer Erwin Jesionek was one of the first to belong to the "Stoßtrupp Künzel", from which the outpost of the RuS-Half-Amtes-ii developed. Until his front assignment, he led the Rus departments of Budweis and Tabor and was assigned to the RuS leader of Bohemia-Mehren as the first speaker. - 2 - $1.8.142143
