4a In March 1943 it became known that the firmeb bn F e r o p o l , Prague II., Vladislausgasse 4, Faschinen-messer are expelled to the peasant population of the Protectorate. 66oo pieces of such knives had been assigned to the above-mentioned company by the Reichsstelle in Berlin, after they could no longer be transferred to the original contractor in South America because of the war. On becoming known here- of already 6673 pieces had been sold to agricultural and other commercial cooperatives. The sale of the rest of 227 pieces was prohibited. Taking into account the scarcity of good cutting tools at the time and the fact that the knives were generally bought as industrial or agricultural tools, the collection of knives delivered to the retail trade and, for the most part, already in the hands of the population was excluded. In Wsetin, the company Gebrüder K u m b a r 26 pieces of travel knife with a 12 cm long blade and leather sheath were found and secured. Likewise in Lithuanian with the Messerschmied Josef M u n d z a r and in the Eisenhandlung Z a h r a d n i k in Proßnitz 2o pieces so-called skaut knives. These are weapons which, within the meaning of the Regulation on the possession of arms of 1.8.1939, are to be regarded as stabbing weapons. According to the findings of a verka of such knives, a random review of a wide range of relevant commercial firms and cooperatives has not been carried out since the said Regulation was adopted.
