Copy. Department of Finance Prague, 6 May 1943. VIIe- 2231- 49 32 To the office of the Secretary of State. Subject: Request of the Nazi Reichsbund for body exercises Sudeten-land- Turngau 18 - for allocation of 6,7 million K from the collected Sokolvermögen. Reference: Letter of 2 April 1943-St.S.VI A 5a/43. The confiscation order of the secret state police, head office of Prague, extends to the former Sokolvermögen established in Bohemia and Moravia, while the recording and overlay of the Sokol Vermöge in the Sudetengau was carried out by the standstill commissioner for organizations in Reichenberg. To my knowledge, the Commissioner for the Conservation of Living and Working Conditions has allocated the properties, which are largely heavily indebted, to the Nazi Reichsbund for body exercises or other organisations, but has refrained from the allocation of the cash, securities, etc. found in the collection. It seems therefore necessary and expedient to me if the considered organizations in the Sudetenland are to take advantage of the guarantee provided there by the Commissioner for the maintenance of silence. The treatment of the Socol assets in the Protectorate and in the Sudetenland, which is completely separate, according to different provisions, does not allow the transfer of assets for the legal reasons of the local provisions. Apart from that, the levying of a cash amount of 6.7 million K could not be held responsible for the following reasons: the assets I manage currently have a cash balance of around ll million K. It is the tax which has accrued since the date of the seizure, the current obligations on deferred and current interest and claims on a base-book charge of CZK 13,5 million, insurance contributions, on-going repairs and other expenditure to be covered. In addition, I am forced to hold back a large part of the cash for started and finished construction projects in the local area (e.g. Riegerpark). I am again adding to the very oaths of the Gauturnführer of the Turngau 18 Sudetenland sent to me. Dr. G r o B .
