English Translation
8a. Czechs. It seems that some prominent personalities from cschech. circles make a sport out of it, to get Germans on the wrong way or at least to shake them in their firm decision of the year l939, namely: to endure under all circumstances. But how must it affect a Czech who is devoted to the Reich? When Germans buy objects of daily use under their hands. Such a German is not at all aware of how he thereby makes himself punishable. Not even so much in the war-economic sense. But how demoralising does his example affect other peoples? How is such a person humiliated in the eyes of the selling man? How cynical is he judged when he leaves the store. I do not wish you, dear friend, that you know how one feels when one is witnessing such scenes. One must then listen to allegations that fall on the head of the whole German people. Dear friend, do you know what I wish for? That you would be all-powerful and could tell all your people throughout Europe how we envy you that a great man like Adolf Hitler has come from your people. What would make of such an Adolf itler today the English or the North American.- How would they lift him up, that his idea triumphed. I believe, dear friend, that not all Germans today are aware of what an opportunity they have in front of them and that some do not appreciate the tasks they are facing, that they take them too easily and thereby make them small in our eyes and in the eyes of all European peoples and thus make what the German soldier is fighting for on the fronts. This is a sin on the ideals of National Socialism, when today in the fourth year of war discipline is falling. I beg you, dear friend, call, encourage, and tell your fellow citizens how hard we are to bear when the people who have shown us the way differ from what happens when individual individuals are disturbed by personality defects in the discipline within the framework of the tasks of the European peoples."
