THE HIGHER 4- AND POLICE LEADER FOR BOYS AND PERSONS PRAG, 24 August 1944 Minister of Secret No. BdS- IV- 25th AUG. 1944 F (Please quote in reply!) Subject: Security of concentration camps and labour camps. Procedure: Order of RF H of 17.6.1944 - Tgb. No. VS 2440/44. On the basis of the order of the Reichsführer of 17.6.1944 I received on 10 June 1944. and 11.8.1944 visited the labour camps in my service area to check the security measures taken. I discussed the placement of any male workers on the spot with the camp commanders or the responsible men of the factories where the prisoners work. On this occasion, I found that the guards are not at all equipped or insufficiently equipped with weapons of firearms. For example, there are no machine weapons in Leitmeritz at a stand of 1250 prisoners from the Plossenbürg concentration camp and 7ö0 from the There- seinstadt police prison. I urge, therefore, that the guards of the labour camps preferably equip them with machine guns and light machine guns. In Neurohlau, the strength of the guards is not sufficient in my opinion. Taking into account the local circumstances, reinforcement ( 6 men ) is necessary. In the case of security measures, it must be taken into account that the prisoners come into contact with civil workers, including Czechs and foreigners, during their work, who benefit from experiential escape cases.
