THE GERMAN STATE MINISTER Prague, don 16 April 1944. for Bohemia and Moravia No. St.M. Z a- Hb. /44. Copy. The Reichsminister und Chef Berlin W 8, April 9, 1944. of the Reich Chancellery Voßstraße 6 Rk. 2699 E To the Supreme Reich Authorities. Subject: Name "Der Führer". The term Adolf Hitler's as "leader" has developed into a well-known, well-defined historical term, which expresses its position as leader of the NsDAP., as head of state of the Great German Empire, as chief of government (Reichskanzler) and as supreme commander of the Wehrmacht by a word. This is reflected in the German language in the fact that in the case of laws, decrees and decrees, in the formal traffic not abroad as well as in the title - finally the term "leader" is used (cf. my circular report of 26, June 1943 - Rk. 7669 E -). On the other hand, this development implies that the use of the word "leader" in its sense, either alone or in compositions, must be exercised with restraint. The Führer would therefore like to see no influence at the present time on the other use of the word "leader" in daily use, but that in the future, new professional and rank names should not be created in the civil sector, in which the word 'leader' occurs, be it in compositions alone. In the official use of the civil state office, the other use of "leaders" should also be avoided. I may inform you of this statement by the leader and ask for their attention. The head of the party chancellor will inform the party departments accordingly. Dr. Lammers took ur Verteilen An Note Dienstst
