English Translation

Subject: Czech Historical 20 Institute in Rome. I would ask that the Czech Historical Institute close in Rome with immediate effect, and that the order for closure should be sent to Rome in person by the Chief Commissioner of the Ministry of Education, Mr Franz Stuchlik. Stuchlik would be too powerful to initiate all necessary measures in Rome for the production of the Institute's property and, moreover, to instruct him to contact the German Embassy in Rome before taking any measures. The library and archival material of the institute is to be returned to Prague via Berlin. At the same time, I ask the staff member of the Institute, Bohumil Chytil, to give the order to return to Prague immediately. I look forward to an immediate communication on the subject, and I would ask in particular to proceed with two orders concerning the closure of the Institute. 2.) Copy (of 1) to the representative of the Foreign Office at the Reichsprotektor in Bohemia and Moravia to note that the Minister for Science, Education and People's Education, referring to the statement of the Foreign Office of 27.3.41, Kult.W 3276, has asked to arrange for the closure of the Czech Historical Institute in Rome. I ask that the German Embassy in Rome be informed as soon as possible that in the week following the 7.4. the Head of Division IV of my authority, 44-Sturmbannführer Wolf and the German Chief Commissioner at the Ministry of Education, Franz Stuchlik, will appear at the German embassy in Rome for the final clarification of the matter. Copy of the decree of the Minister of Education on the closure of the Institute will be sent to you in the next few days. I.V.d.St.S. gez.Liebenow
