74 - 2 - the nationality of former Czechoslovak nationals is dependent on the possession of the German nationality according to the decree of 20.4.1939, RGBl. I, p. 815. Up to now, 187,450 persons have registered with the responsible Oberlandraten as German national. This figure is distributed among the various Oberlandrat districts in the manner indicated in the supplement. However, the figures given cannot yet be regarded as definitive, since it is still necessary to examine whether those persons who made their notification actually fulfil the conditions for possession of German nationality and thus of German citizenship under the Regulation of 20.4.1939, RGBl. I, p. 815. In particular, this paragraph also contains national German spouses who are married to Czech citizens and who, because of the provision of § 2, paragraph 2, of this regulation in connection with the creation of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, cannot obtain German nationality directly, but rather only through naturalisation. In addition, questionnaires have been issued for the establishment of the German ethnicity of hybrids l. and 2nd grade, which can only be recognised as German ethnics if the conditions laid down in the circular of the Reich Minister of the Interior dated 29 March 1939 I e 5062 IV/39 5000 e (paragraph 4 of this decree).
