WILHELM SPENGLER REINHARD HEYDRICH WERK AND WESEN A time like that of our world-historical events, full of rushing events, as if the breath of world history were going faster, must be more forgetful than other times, because the present demands all forces from us and banishes our view of the kingdom's future. If the day on which Reinhard Heydrich fell as a blood witness for the kingdom is now one year old, we may nevertheless say: he is not forgotten! On the contrary, the basic features of his work and nature have become clearer in front of our inner eyes at the distance of this year, and what is incorruptible in this work has been more deeply influenced by our consciousness. What the kingdom lost in it, no one can measure for good, just as of the many best sons of the people, with whose early death for the fatherland at the same time the deeds of their later mature manhood remain undone. Those around Reinhard Heydrich could only see how he belonged to those men, who became ever larger in increasing tasks themselves, and how in the midst of this constant inner growth violently broke his life path. This wax that had not yet come to a standstill was not able to stop.
