75a Since the Hero Memorial Day is celebrated every year as a festive holiday on the 2nd Sunday of March, it was in my opinion possible to clarify these questions of doubt from the outset. I therefore managed only to cause with great difficulty that only the approved films are shown on the Hero memorial day. In addition to film screenings, a theatre event of the National Workers' Union for Workers in Armaments was to be held in Königgrätz on Heldengemeintag. The police director in Königgrätz told me that the presentation of this comedy on the Hero Memorial Day, in view of the fact that it was an event of the workers in arms companies, had been expressly approved by the board of the press censorship office at the Ministry of People's Enlightenment and Propaganda in Prague, section head of Hop. Since the execution of this pleasure play was in sharp contrast to the decree of the Reich Minister of the Interior dated 6.III.44, I asked the B.d.S. and the German Minister of State /Ober Reg.Rat Dr.Oehmke/ whether a pleasure play may be performed on the Hero Memorial Day for Arms Workers by way of derogation from the decrees of the Imperial Minister of The Interior. My opinion was confirmed by the above-mentioned services, according to which the execution of this pleasure play was of course prohibited in a closed event for workers in the armaments industry. I was only able to prevent the performance of the pleasure play through my urgent questions. These instructions issued by Prague and contradicting one another led to a considerable uncertainty at the local police authority. It could have been avoided, 12468
