The Oberlandrat Inspector des Reichsministers in Königgrätz - Inspector des Deutschen Staatsministers- Gesch.Z.: W/G. Königgrautz, the Balbinstrasse 4. 21. March 1944. To the German State Minister for Bohemia and Moravia, to Hd.v.H. Ministerial Council Dr. G i e s, in P r a g. Czerninpalais /Ministry. Short report. 24.MRZ.1944 1./ Hero Memorial Day 1944: The decree of the Reich Minister of the Interior of 16.III.44 on the protection of the Hero Memorial day stipulated that all public events for the duration of the war until 24 o'clock were to be prohibited on the Hero memorial day, unless they were of a soldiery and heroic character corresponding to the meaning of the day. The corresponding telex of the German Minister of State was received here on 10.III.44 at 11 o'clock. In contrast to this, the Bohemian-Mährische Filmzentrale in Prague issued to the cinema owners the consecration that entertainment films should be played as usual on Hero Memorial Day. As a result, there was uncertainty among cinema owners as to which arrangement was binding for them. It was only after a corresponding inquiry by me at the B.d.S. that it was clarified that the instruction of the Bohemian-Mährische Film- central to film theatre owners was overtaken and replaced by a new instruction. On 11.III.44 it was clearly clarified by telex from the German Minister of State to the Oberlandraten, signed by Dr.Oehmke, that only films that have noted in censorship the title "Hero Memorial Day" are allowed to be shown in film theatres on Heldengemeindtag. This telex went here on 11.iii. at 13.45 h, i.e. shortly before the offiz. Close of service, one and still had to be passed on to the district heads. Since St.M. IV9-19/44
