Security Service RFSS SD-Head Section Prague III - PA 11 000 - Prague-Bubentich , January 15, 1943 Sachfenweg telex 77444 Office of State Protection at the Reichspfarrer in Bohemia and Moravia Eing.: 18. JAN. 1943 To the personal speakers of the State Secretary at the Imperial Protector in Bohemia, Moravia 44-Obersturmbannführer Dr. G i e s Prague. Betr.: Gerlach, Kurt, elementary school teacher, born 4.3.1889 in Dresden, verh., resident Hellerau near Dresden, Hoher Weg lo. Vorg.: Dort, St.S. IV O - 143 c/42 of 7.12.1942. The elementary school teacher Kurt Gerlach has been working on literary works for many years. He wrote novels, political treatises (in the magazine "Der junge Deutsche"), individual poems and others, all from a volcanic point of view. A note from the publisher Erich Matthes (see footnote 1) provides information about his external curriculum vitae. An appendix 2 of his book "Ragnarök" from the "Volkische Beobachter" of 1928 is attached. The investigations initiated at the SD-leitungspart Dresden have not yet been completed. As soon as the result is available, it will be reported unrequested. However, it can already be agreed today with the view of 44-Hauptsturmführer Dr. Beyer that an installation of Gerlach into the Karls University is hardly possible. Whether it is possible to get Gerlach free of his current position and to take over into the school administration of the Protectorate can not yet be overlooked, however, can be doubted. In today's overloading of the teaching staff, it is unlikely that Gerlach will be able to entrust him with school duties which will give him more free time for his poetic pursuits.
