36 Mr. Head of Division V Dr. H. W i r t h Prague, 5 July 1944 No. V/Stat. - 877/65ll Strictly confidential. Population: In the period under review the monthly results on the natural population movement of the German and Czech population were completed. The natural movement of Germany's population developed as favourably as it had been expected during the period in question. The number of people born in the country rose by an additional 1% in the previous year. On the other hand, the number of marriages shows a decreasing trend. The death rate is again high, but it must be taken into account that l/lo is due to the deaths of non-resident Pfleglinge in the asylums. The natural movement of the Czech population no longer shows this enormous increase as in the previous years. Although the birth surplus has increased by a few hundred more, it can be assumed that the enormous increase in births has reached its peak and thus reached a certain degree. The number of marriages remains considerably below the marriages of the past years in the period under review. In recent years, the very high marriage rate has been similar to the increase in the birth rate, which appears to be a consequence of the labour force measures. The death rate of the Czech population is constantly increasing as a result of high infant mortality. The monthly statistics on the food card edition, with particular regard to food consumption, were delivered on time to the food security authorities.
