221a -9 - 1) Waste materials and waste materials: the recording of waste materials and scrap materials is becoming more and more difficult to find the necessary manpower and means of transport. It is to be feared that, if the capacity for action of the trade in waste material continues to be reduced, the necessary resources for the war economy will continue to sink. (m) Mineral oil industry: The supply of petroleum products to the economy and the Wehrmacht was satisfactory in purely technical terms, even in the second quarter of 1984, although difficulties of various kinds had to be overcome by other means of transport, in particular railways. On the other hand, the recent development made it necessary for some sectors to make substantial reductions from the previous allocations. 4./ Mining and coal industry: production in the coal districts of the Protectorate was undisturbed during the period under review. As a result of the impossibility of making the required labour available to the mining industry, production figures for the previous year were not reached, particularly in the Moravian-Ostrava district. Before A 05978, the shortage of around 53,000 tonnes of coal per month in the industrial sector was particularly noticeable in fuel management, as a result of the increased coking in the areas of Moravia-Ostrava and Kladno. Special measures, in particular by the use of brown coal from Sudeten, which was also reduced in the total quantity, have avoided major difficulties. Negotiations with the Reichsstelle für Kohlen have so far enabled an additional 20,000 tonnes of hard coal to be released for the industrial sector only in July. Applications for new and additional requirements, which were also submitted in large numbers in the second quarter of 1944, could be partly satisfied under recourse to still existing stocks. In no case has there been any shortage of fuel. ./.
