Gentlemen, it has now been about ten days since I announced to you in this room the measures I have taken and informed you of my view of the past development in the Protectorate. Looking back, I would like to say to you today that the results of the investigations carried out by the Reich's security bodies have fully confirmed what was already apparent ten days ago: the debt of former Prime Minister Eliá, which you all know, also shows that the most influential Czech circles were responsible for the development, as the death sentence confirms my view that the Reich is not suitable for itself. The gigantic size of the success in the East, but also the enormous danger in which Europe was located, has made no less than the leader himself vividly before you all. Thus, of course, all of you may also feel the willingness of the Empire to destroy betrayal in the back of the front with all its rigour and to prevent it for the future. As I have had the impression in the last few days that the entire population of the Protectorate, when assessing the activities of the tribunals, expressed the idea that indiscriminate innocent people were merely to be put to death for deterrence, I would like to say a few things in a coherent way about these resistance efforts:
