With reference to the application for a British certificate of naturalisation by Count Joseph Vincent Adalbertus Maria William Romanus CZERNIN, Czech, registered with Metropolitan Police as Josef CZERNIN, residing at 23, Seymour Place, W.1. :-

The personal particulars as given by the applicant in his statements on the application form have been enquired into so far as possible, and the form appears to have been completed correctly with the exception that:

1. he has Anglicised his names, which, according to his birth certificate, should read: Josef Vencenc Vojtech Maria Vilem Roman Czernin. He is commonly known by the forename of 'Joseph'.

2. he has no documentary proof that he has lost his Czechoslovakian nationality, and he says that he has not been informed at any time by the Czech Authorities that he has lost his nationality.

3. his father's name should read: Frantisek Josef Czernin.
his mother's name should read: Vilemina Maria Czernin, nee Clanner.

He has failed to initial the deleted clause (7).

Since submitting the application applicant has changed his place of work and has been in West Germany on holiday and visiting friends from 2.5.55 - 15.5.55.

Applicant produced a copy of his birth certificate. His Czech passport No. 3764/3147/47 issued Prague 14.3.1947 (contained in H.O. file C.27509/2) also confirms his date and place of birth. He also produced papers relevant to his antecedents and proof of his financial position.

CZERNIN was born at Prague, Czechoslovakia on 9.8.1924, his parents being Count Frantisek Josef
