English Translation
Vienna, 26 July 1943. To the Rectorate of the Technical University in Vienna. Subject: R.Zl. 525/43, Wiss.Ass.Dipl.-Ing.A.Czernin, further order. ==References====External links==* Official website In July the letter of the assistant Czernin mentioned, in which he renounces the further order, if I can occupy his assistant position by another gentleman and the operation of the teaching pulpit is thereby facilitated, lies already long time behind and is by that I did not succeed in finding a suitable gentleman, which is not military duty. I therefore request the further appointment of Czernin, which can be held responsible from the point of view of care for the young academics. For Czernin was already called on 10 February 1940, after he had passed his second state examination on 11 October 1939. After all, he had a certain insight into the facilities of my teaching pulpit and the experimental technique and then, after his basic military training, was constantly in military-technical use, so that his practical skills were expanded to a sufficient extent. At present, he is engaged in development work in a war-important company, which also affects the field of my teaching pulpit, so that this time can be reckoned as a full-fledged training period. Since there will be a special need for trained technical forces at our university and at my teaching pulpit upon entering peace, I cannot do without the assistants of my teaching cane, even if they are called to the Wehrmacht, as long as I have no full substitute, which is now almost impossible to win.
